The core hierarchical structure of a workflow goes as follows:
The workflow is the main container for your structure, sometimes referred to as a Case Type.
Milestones are a container or grouping of stages. An example might be a milestone for Case Review, which may contain both the CFR and CYC stages. Once all stages are completed within a case, the milestone is then automatically marked complete.
Stages contain all of the possible updates you can make when working through a case. Each stage can be assigned to a user when activated or updated and a due date can be set. One example could be a CYC stage, which has all of the possible updates a CYC can have such as CYC Scheduled, CYC In Progress and CYC Complete.
Stages also have some options worth pointing out:
Stages: Plan Based
Plan Based stages are indicated by a letter P in a circle. When this is highlighted on a stage, the stage becomes repeatable. As an example, Information Gathering is a Plan Based stage, which means you are able to add as many as you like to a case and each one will follow the structure as set out in the workflow.
Stages: Checklists
Checklists can be added to a stage by clicking on the check mark icon within a stage. More information on configuring checklists can be found here.
Updates are the status you add to a stage each time something is actioned. You might activate the stage with an In Progress update, and then once the stage is complete you might set the status to Stage Complete.
Completion Updates
Each stage requires one or more completion updates in order to allow you to complete it. A completion update can be set by clicking the blue arrow icon to the left of the update. When this is clicked it will toggle to a checkmark icon, this update, when actioned, will complete your stage.
